i think i would like to make easter a religious holiday. THose pick easter baskets full of toys with themes like "hannah montana shit" or "Pirates of my bum" make me ill...and think back to the olden days, when men were men, people burned down their houses to collect the nails, and easter baskets were for jellybeans and eggs only.

Hey, joel, whatcha readin. Im reading "backslider" by levi s. peterson. Its fantastic. Its about a mormon guy that backslides a little.

I'm also reading "images of the Beatles". and some Ironman comic books. and I just finished the autobiography of steve martin, which was excellent, of course

So, yeah, I like Easter. I like painting eggs, and I appreciate the resurrection. I think it should be a time for reflection, renewal, and finding eggs.

I used to like to make big construction sites out of the green baskets that strawberries once came in and my mom saved. She saved them in the pantry. Once I went to get something for her out of the pantry, and I dropped a grape juice container accidentally and it smashed all over the concrete floor. i cleaned it up, i think, BUt ever since that day I would like to go get stuff outta there for my mom, cause then I could pause and lick the grape juice stain.

and I'm reading teh big fat kill by Frank Miller. he's the cats pajamas.

We do not celebrate Easter as a commercial holiday. We color eggs as a family but don't have Easter Baskets and bunnies and hunting of the hidden eggs of color. We make boiled eggs as an excuse to have creamed eggs on toast. I'm wierd huh? creamed eggs on toast? what was I thinking??

nan said...

and I'm not Joel but I will respond to say I am reading the second Bourne novel- The Bourne Sepremecy. No special editing from my clean library patron this time. and No it is nothing like the movie.

Sherri said...

I'm not Joel either. I'm reading Blood Rites by Jim Butcher. This book doesn't even need edited. It's great.

I work with a dum girl who thought Easter was a National holiday like Christmas. Dang! now she's missing church for no extra pay!

Sherri said...

WE went to see 10,000 BC last night. I recommend that you Don't see this movie. I think I dropped in I.Q. because of it.

I went and saw "The Other Boleyn Girl" last night. It was quite a bit different from the novel its based on and even more different than actual history.

I had a weird dream because of it too.

We love Easter but don't get into the commercial side. and yes, Creamed Eggs on toast. Yumm. Tonight I watched "Enchanted". Of course my children LOVED it, (especially Sydney) it's very Sappy and silly but cute.

Sherri said...

I liked Enchanted too. It's a good kid movie and it didn't make me feel like I wasted my time completely.

Montgomery Q said...

I like creamed eggs on toast. I havent had it in a long time. Maybe we should have that tonight, mandoo.

I like easter, I just hate all the commercial crap.

We saw Be Kind, Rewind, and loved it. Then I saw Michael Clayton and wished that I had done something else instead.

Sherri said...

We saw Drillbit Taylor last night. I liked it, it was pretty funny.

I watched I am Legend last night. It was creepy and I didn't like it.

My Jeep has been making weird noises. So I took it in and they say the transmission needs rebuilt! How much does that suck!?! It's at least $2000 to rebuild it, maybe more. That only comes with a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty!

I once watched a movie at a drive in. This movie was about avocado aliens, who in retaliation for the tons of guacamole that the citizens of earth made EVERY YEAR decide to attack earth and make us their zombie slaves.

I don't remember what it was called. I do remember that it was dark when I watched it and that I wanted my money back afterwards even though it only cost a dollar to watch it.

nan said...

The first time I watched Nacho Libre was at the Drive Inn. We went back every night for a week. It was cheap to go. I would have paid more. We took popcorn in a big brown paper bag. It wasdark and we didn't ask for our money back. I took my friend and her kids with us one night and afterwards she said. "Uhh, that show was a little wierd." I said "DUH!" and didn't ask her to come with me again.

James said...

You never invited me to go.

nan said...

Yeah well, I don't know what i was thinking, You guys would have been much more fun. "that show is a little wierd"??? what is up with that anyway?

Sherri said...

weird = good

Sherri said...

did you get my google invite, Nan?

Joel's Other Sister said...

Paul, do you like your job or do you want another one at the place I work?

Montgomery Q said...

I like my jo but not mlm jobs cause i already did that job and theres not much future for designers in mlm jobs and plus id have to work with a guy i know there that i dont want to work with.

Joel's Other Sister said...

It wouldn't be in Creative Services. It would be in my department. But I don't know that you'd like it either. I thought I'd ask just the same.

nan said...

Hey, Can I have a job with you? I could live with you and play with you and in the morning- I'll make Waffles!

Joel's Other Sister said...

Nan! It would like old times! Working together in the morning in the potato fields. Sleeping in the afternoons. Working graveyard at the photo place. Making spudnuts, chasing pigs and making crazy videos on the weekends. Ah, that was the life.

Sherri said...

Wow! What kind of crazy job had you doing all of that?

nan said...

It was very "specialized" We'd tell you but we'd have to kill you.

Hi, I'm Joel. I have been busy with work and that makes me not dumb. I am currently reading "The Man in the High Castle", the Hugo Award winning novel by Philip K. Dick. Dick rules. But this novel is odd. I'm not sure why it won the Hugo. There are others that I thought were much better. If you want to know what makes me sad it's this: Arthur C. Clarke died. Did you know that I have the same birthday as Clarke? Am I his reincarnation? I don't know.

One of my most favorite aspects of Blogger is that you can sign up for email notifications of when someone posts a comment and when you do so it sends you an email saying you just posted a comment. Really? Did I just post a comment? I wonder what I said. Also, how come you can sign up for email notification of new comments but not for new posts? That bugs me.

Joel said...

Ooh! I just got an email notification that I posted a comment here! I'd better go see what I wrote. Later!

Joel's Other Sister said...

There's always that blogger bot thing you can be notified that a new post is up. That is if you don't mind it telling you this a few weeks (or months) later.

Joel said...

That's worthwhile. I can manage to look at people's blogs every month by myself. I wonder if I'm about to post a comment on this blog. I hope I get a notification telling me if I do.

mandi said...

Bot a blog sucks. But guess what's good. reader.google.com

It works good! I think you'll like it! I endorse this product!

mandi said...

How come last time it didn't give me the little box to get follow up email comments? Is that dumb? No.

If you're not signed into blogger, or if you've already signed up for the comments then it doesn't give you the option.

I don't care about it if I'm already subscribed, but its NOT DUMB if I haven't signed in to not allow that option. You have to make two comments in order to get subscribed then.

Joel's Other Sister said...

Another thing I enjoy is that blogger doesn't allow you to edit your comment after you post it. It requires that you delete it. Nice.

My job cracks me up. I get to review advertising and occasionally get nuggets like this:

Velvet Antler Extract:

Mounting Evidence that the Extract Supports Health and Well-Being

When you think of deer, you probably imagine quick, lithe, and strong creatures. Deer move with grace, agility, and speed, darting through their natural environment with purpose and precision. It makes sense that an extract, taken from deer antler velvet, would support similar characteristics you, promoting muscular endurance, mental dexterity, and physical stamina

Joel said...

If there's anything that makes sense to me it is that eating animal offal will imbue me with the characteristics that I appreciate in that animal. Will it make me regurgitate the food I eat in order to give it a second go? No. I don't appreciate that aspect of a deer's behavior. Will it give me endurance. Yes indeed.

mandi said...

My response to Velvet Antler Extract is wholly contained in my avatar. Please look at it.

Joel said...

Muscular endurance and physical stamina.

Will it also help me to not get tired so fast and to walk and not be weary, run and not faint? Maybe it can also decrease muscle fatigue and help me not get tired so fast. Or maybe it will just help me not get tired so fast.

nan said...

I wonder if it is as good as fish oil capsuls. That is the gift that keeps on giving. All day into the night. The flavor is delicious. ou will always get your money's worth.

Sherri said...

I worry that the Velvet Antler Extract will make me overly wary. Although it would be great if I could jump fences in a single bound.

mandi said...

I don't want hunters shooting at me either.

Montgomery Q said...

Sometimes after I eat beef, I feel that I have been imbued with the power and stamina of a cow

Montgomery Q said...

same with shrimp tacos

Joel said...

When I eat a tomato, most of the time I feel vine ripened

Montgomery Q said...

Horny goat weed extract makes me feel weird!

Sherri said...

We all know how much stamina cows have.

I should make a blog dedicated to the funny things I have to review.

One of my favorites was a testimony from a distributor that stated "I can rest in peace knowing that I use Neways products."

I laughed my head off.

hi. I am Leslie.
I want to be your friend.
I am NOT dumb.
and I am NOT crusty.
I am pure in heart.
and I like spoiling the crap out of my kids for Easter.
but I am still pure in heart.
let me be your friend.
PLEASE.
besides, you talk about me enough that I should be able to reply and/or defend myself.

Leslie said...

I actually added some pictures to my blog and I did it all by myself (mostly).
I really am not so challenged.
Yeah for me.

Sherri said...

Yeah! for Leslie. She's grown up!
